Welcome!
My name is Kelsey, and I am a fifth-year Ph.D. Candidate at Michigan State University.
I am currently on the academic job market. My research focuses on race and ethnic politics, identity politics, political behavior, public opinion, and political symbols. My work has been published in the Journal of Race and Ethnic Politics and the Journal of Public Policy, with several other projects under review.
I am deeply invested in understanding how minorities of color, and particularly Black Americans, understand their belonging to the nation through their American identity. Much of my research agenda analyzes the ways in which marginalized communities internalize this identity in starkly different ways from White Americans.
In my free time, I’m probably reading Science Fiction or watching my favorite political drama, Deep Space Nine.
